Set up in 2008, PT. Anggrek Hitam, a subsidiary of Holotan Pte Ltd (Singapore), has developed a shipyard which the company now owns and operates. This Indonesian company has acquired a land area of about 10 hectares in Batam in 2008 with a deep water frontage of 300m and has developed the land into a proper shipyard with ground stabilization and infrastructures comprising workshops, offices and jetty.
The shipyard in Batam has been designed for a production output of 25,000T of steel per year and its infrastructures have been calibrated for the construction of self propelled Deck Carriers up to 20,000T deadweight and floating cranes.
Located only 20 km from Singapore, the island can be reached by ferry in less than an hour. It has been declared a Free-Trade Zone in 1989 and since then has been developing into a major industrial area.
The company owns 26 years leasing over about 10 hectares of land in Kabil, Batam. The lease should expire in February 2034 but it can be ex-tended for a further 20 years then 30 years.
